Dr. Athens graduated in 1982 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Besides spinal care, Dr. Athens also specializes in extremity conditions (e.g. shoulder and hip bursitis, knee tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Morton's Neuromas, heel and foot pain, elbow and wrist conditions and carpal tunnel syndrome, among others). He has two sets of boy/girl twins, ages 18 yrs. and 12 yrs., and is very comfortable working with various child ailments.

Dr. Athens initially worked with the San Francisco 49er football players and then he became team chiropractor for the San Francisco Giants baseball team, until 2002. He is the only chiropractor to be on a Super Bowl pre-game show when in 1990, he adjusted former quarterback Joe Montana on national TV, before the game with the Denver Broncos. Some of his celebrity patients include: Patrick Willis, Vernon Davis, Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Michelle Wei (LPGA). Dr. Athens has been in practice for almost 29 years and he has been featured in many local and national publications. His motto is to always give the patient the best care and service, along with teaching them ways to improve their level of health care.

Dr. Patrignani graduated in 2001 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, California. Dr. Patrignani specializes in conditions of the spine, as well as headache management, ankle, knee, hip & shoulder conditions from running, recreations or sports. Dr. Patrignani interned under the guidance of Dr. Athens for 6 months before becoming licensed. His adjustive techniques include diversified manual therapy, instrument adjustments which are gentle force, and myofascial release (to remove scar tissue from muscles). All Patients are provided with home care instructions to ensure maximum benefit from the treatment.

Dr. Gutierrez is a native of Los Angeles, CA. He graduated with a degree of Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the Citadel, Military College of South Carolina where he was a high-ranking cadet officer and in the Dean’s List. After his undergraduate studies, he went straight to Palmer College to pursue his life-long dream of helping others ease their pain. In 2007, he joined Athens Chiropractic Clinic and took over as Head Exam Doctor the following year. Dr. Gutierrez specializes in headaches, sciatica, carpal tunnel and all sports-related injuries. Other areas of expertise include being certified in ART (Active Release Technique), a soft tissue system/movement-based massage technique and treatment of auto and work-related injuries.

The interests of Dr. Gutierrez’s patients are his first and foremost concern and economic consideration would not hinder the delivery of appropriate and timely care of the highest quality.
