Dr. Athens graduated in 1982 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Besides spinal care, Dr. Athens also specializes in extremity conditions (e.g. shoulder and hip bursitis, knee tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Morton's Neuromas, heel and foot pain, elbow and wrist conditions, and carpal tunnel syndrome, among others). He has two sets of boy/girl twins, ages 27 yrs. and 22 yrs., and is very comfortable working with various child ailments.

He was awarded ICA’s 1st Sports Chiropractor of the Year in 1990!  Dr. Athens was a team chiropractor for the San Francisco 49ers football team. He was a team chiropractor for the San Francisco Giants baseball team, from 1997-2002. He is the only chiropractor to be on a Super Bowl pre-game show when in 1990, he adjusted former quarterback Joe Montana on national TV, before the game with the Denver Broncos. Some of his celebrity patients include Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Michelle Wei (LPGA).

Dr. Athens has been in practice for 38 years and he has been featured in many local and national publications. His motto is to always give the patient the best care and service, along with teaching them ways to take their health to another level.

Dr. Rivera graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in 1991. He has been in practice in San Carlos for 30 years and has a reputation for being very personable, caring and thorough. His patients range from pro-athletes, veterans, children of all ages, seniors and maternity care. Dr. Rivera specializes in the treatment of sport injuries, whiplash resulting from car accidents, various physical traumas, sprains, headaches, migraines, Plantar Fasciitis and more. Dr. Rivera graduated from University of Nevada Reno where he earned a full scholarship playing football. Growing up in the Bay Area, he was a multi-athlete and was inducted in the Hall of Fame at Riordan High school. His vast experience playing sports gives him a unique insight and understanding of sports injuries and can offer athletes the best treatment for optimal performance.

Dr. Patrignani graduated in 2001 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, California. Dr. Patrignani specializes in conditions of the spine, as well as headache management, ankle, knee, hip & shoulder conditions from running, recreation, or sports. Dr. Patrignani interned under the guidance of Dr. Athens for 6 months before becoming licensed. His adjustive techniques include diversified manual therapy, instrument adjustments which are gentle force, and myofascial release (to remove scar tissue from muscles). All Patients are provided with home care instructions to ensure maximum benefit from the treatment.

Dr. Karl grew up in Winter Park, Colorado. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Physiology with emphasis in biomechanics, exercise physiology, and neuromuscular control from University of Colorado at Boulder. He then attended Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree summa cum laude.

Dr. Karl uses diversified manual adjusting technique on the spine and extremities, as well as Active Release Technique for myofascial release. Active Release Technique is a highly regarded therapy for soft tissues including muscle, fascia, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, and nerves. With quality chiropractic adjustments, ART, and specific rehabilitative exercises, Dr. Karl is well equipped to deal with wide variety of ailments, injuries, and patients. He is an expert in rehabilitating sports, postural, and overuse injuries of the spine as well as the extremities.

Dr. Karl plays ice hockey in two recreational leagues and enjoys weightlifting, golfing, and walking his dog, Olive. He understands the importance of staying active, being able to enjoy hobbies, and strives to allow his patients do the same.
